Hannu Pohjannoro’s Birgitta opera, set to Johanna Venho’s libretto in poetic form is a modern interpretation of the medieval mystic Saint Birgitta’s (1303–1379) vision accounts. Birgitta is a story of sacrifice, dedication and the potential for change. In this opera, no-one dies and miracles are possible. The concert version of the opera will have its premiere.
